Dawn Addy

Dawn Addy, Art/Letters -  As an artist, I paint primarily in acrylics with some mixed media.  I paint the beautiful flora and fauna that surround me, but I truly enjoy painting pet portraits (as party animals) that show the special relationships pet parents have with their fur children.  My work is on exhibit at Strawbridge Art Gallery in Melbourne.  I have designed, written and edited books and newsletters.  In my professional life at the University of Minnesota and Florida International University I wrote academic papers and promotional materials for my departments.  More recently, in my retirement years, I have completed the Alternatives to Violence Project Basic Manual(05/2023), Building Peace and Community: Alternatives to Violence Project Around the World (forthcoming, 2024), and Global Glass: Art by Preston Studios (forthcoming, 2024).  In each of these three projects I have written chapters and text, edited and graphic design work.  I am also Chief editor,writer and graphic designer for the Transformer (The 12 page quarterly national newsletter for AVP-USA, 2017-present); Art News(the bi-monthly newsletter for Strawbridge Art League and Gallery, 2019-present); and the Quail Ridge Communique quarterly HOA newsletter (2020-present).
